Policy
Tuition:
One year tuition is paid in 4 installments. The first dose will be paid on the first lesson in September together with any unpaid registration fee. Fees are due at the first lesson of the month of payment. If you prefer a different schedule, feel free to discuss it with me. Payment months are: September, December, February, and May. Expect an increase in tuition fees of at least 5% each September.
Lesson Time:
Please be prompt for your lesson time, and parents, please promptly pick up your student at the end of the lesson time. No additional time will be added after the lesson if a student arrives too late. Please bring all your books and practice journal to every lesson!
Missed Lessons:
If a student gives me 24 hour notification of a missed lesson, I will give the student a makeup lesson. Without the 24 notice, a makeup will not be given. The only exceptions to this are illness(too sick to attend school)or unexpected very serious situations. There will be no refund for missed or forgotten lessons. There are no exceptions to this policy. Any lessons missed as a result of the teacher's absence or illness shall be made up at a convenient time for all.
Rescheduling of Lessons:
A lesson might be rescheduled if you contact the studio at least a week in advance, but please use this option on rare occasions only!
Termination of Lessons:
If a student decides to terminate lessons, there must be a one month notification prior to the date of termination.
Dismissals:
Regrettably, I will have to dismiss a student for repeated failure to prepare assigned material, disruptive behavior, or continued failure to pay tuition on time.
Materials:
All students need a well tuned piano. Tuning once a year is needed. Each student should have a metronome. Keep all materials organized, and practice goes easier. Make sure to buy music and other material, when asked to do so by the teacher. Necessary materials are needed on time, not to delay the progress of the lessons.
In the studio:
Please make sure hands are washed before lessons. The waiting area is for parents and siblings waiting for the lesson to finish- Please pick up students immediately after their lesson!
Practice:
As a general rule practice is expected every day for a minimum of 30 min. Younger students(5-7 yrs)can practice less, as long as their assignments are completed every day. All students need help and reminders about practice at home. Practice tasks are written in their practice journal on every lesson, please check there for the work that should be done every day. No progress can be done without regular practice at home!
